Little Chalfont Tennis Club

Rules

In the first round, it is the responsibility of the first named player or pair to contact their opponents to arrange their match unless the opponents have not allowed their contact details to be published, in which case they should arrange all their matches. In the 2nd & later rounds of the mixed doubles knock out competition, it is the pair who reaches that round after their opponents who is responsible for arranging the next round match. Any player/pair who has not heard from their opponents and is aware that the deadline for playing the match is approaching should contact their opponents and arrange the fixture.

Each match consists of two tiebreak sets, unless the match is drawn at this stage. If each player/pair wins one set, a championship tie-break (to 10 points) should be played to determine the winner. The date that each match is played should be entered on the results sheet, together with the name(s) of the winner(s)

For the Round Robin Competitions

As the scores may be taken into account in determining the group winners and runners-up, these should be either e-mailed or telephoned through to the tournament organiser as per the details circulated to you.

Points

2 for a win
1 for a tied match, prior to the 3rd set championship tie-break

The winners from each group will be:

1 Those with the highest points score in their group
2 Where two players tie on points, the one who won the most matches will be placed higher
3 If there is still a tie, the player with the largest game difference will be placed higher
4 If there is still a tie, the two players should play a championship tie break to determine the winner

The runners-up will be determined in the same manner as the winners
Where there is more than one group, the player(s) to go through to the semi-final and final will be determined as follows:

Semi Final

Winner of group 1 plays runner-up in group 2
Winner of group 2 plays runner-up in group 1

Final

Winners of the semi-finals

Where there is only one group, there will be a final only, contested between the two highest ranked players determined according to the rules set out above.

If a mixed doubles' match has not been played within one week of the stipulated date, the tournament organiser should be informed. If this is due to one of the pairs being unavailable, they should concede the match. If both pairs are equally responsible for failing to play the match on time, the pair to go through the next round should be determined by the toss of a coin.

If any match, other than the semi-final and final, remains unplayed by 19th August, the player/pair who has been responsible for the delay should concede the unplayed matches. If the players are unable to agree on whom is responsible for the delay, the winner of any unplayed match should be determined by the toss of a coin.

In the event of any dispute, the tournament organiser should be contacted and their ruling is binding.
